Shoulder pain and help

Post  stefanie48 on Fri Jul 04, 2008 8:38 am

HI, I see a registered massage therapist in the Ottawa area but I am not sure I see the results my family doctor had talked about. My shoulders have been given me problems for a number of years and this is what my therapist has worked on for the last year. I would like to finally feel pain relief, which I have not felt yet. Any ideas? Stefanie.

Stefanie. Thank you for becoming a member. I'm sorry to learn about your shoulder problems, and very surprised that you did not achieve success with getting rid of the pain. It would seem that the RMT might not be working the right area, and that could be the result of the preliminary assessment which could have been incomplete. As a starting point, I would suggest that you revise this assessment with your Therapist and make sure nothing was missed ( previous accidents - falls - sickness - etc.) during your initial visit. Then, the frequency of visits should be looked at in order to see if more frequent treatments are needed (Please advise on how often you see your therapist). Too distant visits might not give the therapist a chance to gain to upper hand on the problem. Keep us informed as we might be able to help further. Stella

Stefanie, I see a therapist in Montreal for a shoulder and neck problem as well. I am very surprised to hear that you are not seeing progress, my pain (chronic as my family doctor would say) has been much better and almost gone with the RMT help. Hope all goes well, don't give up.
